A new year with new additions
This month (or early next), two of my friends will become first-time mothers. As some new-mums will attest, your new addition doesn’t mean your makeup routine need disappear. In fact many look forward to this “me time” to brighten tired eyes, even hormonal skin or just feel more confident about their look.
If wearing makeup was a priority for you before, chances are you’ll continue to wear it when your newborn arrives. The only difference is that your application time will reduce.
Here are a few time-saving makeup tips for mums-to-be, new mums or just time poor girls:
- Revise your makeup routine. Focus on one or two features to make up and do them well, rather than rushing to complete your “full face” in little time and with less attention to detail.
- Invest in multi-purpose products like lip and cheek tints, or tinted moisturizers (with sunscreen). You will reduce your application time and the size of your makeup bag.
- Choose a neutral eye and lip colour palette. Neutral colours are easier to apply, do not require precision blending or extra products like lip pencils.
- Use your fingers where you can. Brushes can be fiddly especially if you’re tired. They also require regular cleaning.
