In my makeup kit: Eve Pearl’s Salmon Concealer

tn300x300-tan-dark-resizeI’ve been a long-time fan of Eve Pearl’s products (available online for us Aussies) so it was exciting to see her present last weekend at IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show).

Eve has been a successful American makeup artist for over two decades, and has five Emmy awards under her belt. She first hit my radar with one of her own creations; the famous salmon concealer (pictured). To this day it’s still an essential product in the concealer section of my makeup kit.

People who suffer with deep, under-eye circles will know that traditional yellow based concealers don’t do the job completely. The reason why Eve’s pinky-peach coloured concealer works is because it counteracts the blue and purple tones that make up dark circles. It neutralises these undertones without looking light and chalky.

Choosing a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your foundation is a common mistake that a lot of people make. Using this approach you run the risk of lightening the area too much, and rather than diffusing the circles, you put the spot light on them instead!

Despite the range being modest in size, it caters for a broad range of skin tones, including for women of colour. If you’re in the market for a new concealer, it’s definitely worth a look.
