Slip, Slop, Slap and REPEAT
With the first weekend of summer already behind us it’s important to remember that reapplication is the key with sunscreen. While most of us apply sunscreen in the morning, if we don’t reapply it through the day, we are only doing half the job.
The real challenge with reapplying sunscreen comes when you are already wearing makeup. It’s not as though you are going to wash your face come lunch time and start the skincare/sun care/makeup routine all over again! And you don’t need to. The key is to look for makeup that includes sunscreen that you can reapply during the day.
While I’m not a fan of mineral makeup in other instances, using it as a touch-up product in summer is a good option. The active ingredients (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) in most mineral makeup products are also sunscreen ingredients. A dusting of mineral powder over your existing makeup will refresh your look and top up your sun protection levels. In my opinion, it’s the best way to use mineral makeup.
