We shot this editorial late last year on the aged and unique streets of inner Sydney. The backdrop was the perfect contrast for showcasing the clothes and their luxurious detail.
For makeup, I chose a purple, smoky eye. Purple is an intense colour and I love using it when I can. Here it suited the model’s skin tone and importantly didn’t detract from the flesh toned garment palette we were shooting. Even without a scrap of makeup on, it was obvious our model’s cheekbones were going to steal the show. So the challenge was to make sure that whatever makeup I did, her features weren’t competing with each other! By keeping the eye makeup application smoky and well blended, the look became soft enough to allow her sharp (and blessed) cheekbones to really shine! Cheeks were lightly highlighted and sculpted and lips were coated with a sheer peach tint.
